What are 3D and 4D Ultrasounds?

A 3D ultrasound scan allows you to see still pictures of your child, while still in your womb, in three dimensions. The 4D ultrasound is a moving scan that shows three dimensional moving pictures of your baby, with the fourth dimension being time and movement with time. Many parents are eager to get their first ultrasound scan conducted, as it is one of the first realistic images of their child. The rapid advancements in technology have led to birth of 3D ultrasound NJ and 4D ultrasound scans, making 2D ultrasound scans a thing of the past, as more moms and dads eagerly request the newer versions. Too many parents have been very disappointed in the way 2D images have turned out, and this is largely a result of the scan going directly through the baby, making it so the baby's internal organs are visible in the ultrasound image scan.

In a 3D and 4D ultrasound scan, you do not have to worry about seeing the child's organs, because it captures your baby's skin instead! In addition, you will also have the unique opportunity to see the shape of your baby's nose or mouth, or if your baby is yawning.

A 3D and 4D scan is considered to be just as safe as a 2D ultrasound scan, and that these images are primarily made up of portions of two-dimensional pictures that have been converted into pictures. We do not recommend getting one for fun or memorabilia, and instead should only get one for medical necessity, as this exposes your baby to ultrasound for much longer than is advised by professionals in the medical community. Please note that this type of ultrasound may last up to 45 minutes to well over an hour, which exceeds the recommended safety limitations.

A lot of soon-to-be parents make the decision to invest in a 3D and 4D ultrasound NJ because it can offer a wealth of information that is necessary to help determine abnormalities. The amount of great detail provided by these scans can allow a doctor to determine if a baby has a cleft lip, and if so, he or she can plan accordingly for when the baby is born. Many professionals have found that these scans are very helpful when assessing the baby's heart, and organs. There is no evidence to date that suggests a 3D 4D ultrasound NJ scan is not safe, and most of the time, parents find a great deal of reassurance from them, just make sure you get one from a highly trained professional!
